Forklift Certification in Ontario: What You Need to Know

Getting certified opens doors and bumps your pay. Here's how it works in Ontario.

In Ontario, forklift operators need training that meets CSA standards, usually a mix of classroom theory and hands-on practice on the specific truck type you'll run.

Certification is typically valid for three years, after which a refresher is required. Many employers and agencies will help arrange or even cover the cost.

Counterbalance is the most common ticket, but reach and raymond certifications open up more roles in tall-racking warehouses — and often higher pay.

If you're new, look for roles marked 'will train'. Plenty of employers bring people on and certify them on the job.
